OUR HISTORY

Established in 1993, the Brentwood Community Foundation (BCF) has been a pillar of
service in the Houston area, focusing on education, the arts, health, and social services. As
the parent organization of the Brentwood Economic Community Development Corporation,
BCF has led numerous impactful initiatives for over three decades.
Since its founding, BCF has collaborated with the City of Houston and others to deliver
HIV/AIDS-related programs. In 1996, BCF began receiving federal funding to support
HIV/AIDS services, and in 1997, HUD awarded funding to construct an 18-bed transitional
housing facility for HIV-positive men. From 1993 to 2022, Harris County provided support
for housing HIV-positive women, food pantries, and transportation.
BCF currently offers:
- Transitional housing (18 beds)
- Short-term rent, mortgage, and utility aid
- Health education, nutrition, and mental health counseling
- Grocery gift cards and food pantry access
- Scholarships for college students
BCF has received consistent support from government, and private foundations, and
Brentwood Baptist Church.
The Brentwood Scholarship Program has awarded over $1.5 million since its inception 43
years ago. To ensure the fiscal integrity of the program, our Financial records are
maintained using QuickBooks and reviewed annually by a certified public accountant, an
annual audit is completed.
